What Happens When: The Rains Came Down and the Floods Came Up

Chomriabsua! I hope Father's day was the best for you all! I sure love my dad. He's amazing and I miss him so much! I'm also so grateful for a loving Heavenly Father that blesses us more than we will ever understand. Dads are great and life is great!

In the past 2 weeks I have heard the "wise man & foolish man" song so many times. Starting with Mission Tour Conference a few weeks ago, and ending with English class when the elders sang it for the spiritual thought. Then, the rains really did start coming down and the floods came up! and luckily most of my area is wisely built on the rock (or stilts) so it's been a blast all week! Kampongcham has a lot of hills and slopes in the roads so basically every other street is a nice river by the end of the day! biking in it is way fun. We're doing FHE like crazy lately. Monday night, we had FHE in branch 1 at a member's house. So much fun. We all went around the room sharing our favorite scriptures and even some of the neighbors joined in. While we were waiting to the elders to come pick us up and lead us home, we sang songs out of these super old, torn up hymn books. The spirit was super strong as we sang "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" with a bunch of kids in the lantern lit bamboo house. These people might not have a lot, but they have hearts so full of love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They're amazing! Then yesterday night, all the elders and sisters in KC got to have FHE at the senior couple's house. They're amazing people too! Tonight, we will have FHE at Bong Sophi's house. Her story is in last week's letter. She's the Relief Society president who had a quick change of heart and is quickly coming back to re-activation. She's awesome! We have a new Facebook page for our mission. look it up! Cambodia Phnom Penh LDS Mission We also did service at Bong Phiaps house. She's a super great Member and is hoping to leave soon on a mission. They only have packets in English here, so I get to help her fill out her mission papers! Way exciting. Anyway, after our appointments fell through one day, we showed up looking to do service at her ironing shop and Phiap said her farm pig is in labor! So we decided to go see if we could help. That pig was really really really big and scary, but was having a lot of issues. So we helped by washing the rest of the clothes (handwashing loads and loads for this shop takes a long time) and hanging them while Phiap and her mom were helping out the vets with the pig. The pig is all good now, and the piglets are cute! Glad we were able to help. You never know what you're gonna get... but service is service eh? FINALLY we found a super great lady to teach this week. And my cute compy finally got some real in-action experience teaching lesson #2 to an investigator! Her name is Bong Mom. She's super nice and sells dresses at her house. She has learned a bit before, but was way too busy to learn but now has more time. She listens so intently. It's amazing! Her and her daughter came to church yesterday and we were way excited to see them sitting in the sacrament room together when we showed up! There are 2 potential investigators that always schedule to meet us and never show up. A cute married couple, super young, and always calls wanting to schedule a time to learn. We met them 3 months ago for the first time, contacted on the street. Every time we would wait for them to show, they wouldn't come or pick up the phone. This was way yap until we finally got a hold of them and found out that they miss our lessons for decent reasons. We had no idea, but the 1st time, they were sick and needed to go on a quick trip to the city, so they couldn't come. 2nd time: they got in a car crash on the way to meet us. 3rd time: His mom died... super sad. And after all 3 times, they call us saying they really do want to learn, that they need to hear our message. Well, I cannot wait to share with them. After these experiences, these two are just in need the light of the gospel! hopefully we will be able to teach them this week. I can't wait! I know this is a hard time for them, but I think they are extra prepared to open their hearts to the Gospel!

We are seeing miracles happening in the life of Bei Bei the recently re-active girl I told you about last week. She's doing great in her calling in YW. Her brother is learning still, and her boyfriend is super interested in temple marriage so he wants to learn with the elders! haha When we visited her last night, she told us all these blessings are coming because she kept commitments to fast and pray and come to church. I know so! She's great. I love this area and the amazing people in it! We did have a super good lesson about the temple with a lady last night who has been an active member for more than 10 years. She's been wanting to go to the temple but just didn't know where to start. We assured her she can get there and that Heavenly Father will make it possible if she puts in the faith and work. She was so excited she started crying and was so confused at why she was so emotional. She didn't believe me when I told her people cry a lot when they feel the spirit sometimes haha. Great lady. I'm way excited for her to fulfill her dream of going to the temple. She said "most people dream about having a lot of money, but lately, it is so strange. I just dream about the temple". And she has at least 10 different temple pictures hung up on the concrete walls of her house. I love her! She's a great help to the missionaries and to the branch too.

Alright, that's all I've got. This is my 1/2 way mark! INSANE. Time's going wayyy to fast. But when you look back and see how far you've come and all the people you've met, all I can say is that MISSIONS ARE AMAZING. and Everyday is worth it. All of it. I love you all and miss you always! Have a wonderful week. Love,

Sister Haddock
