What Happens When: Rekindling Brings Happiness
Hello Hello!
Guess what everyone? I am loving life right now. I have been for quite a while, but really, even though this week was totally crazy and we've been running (well, riding through chaos) everywhere, the members are happy, the investigators are happy, and i'm feeling SUPER HAPPY. We had this little devo/testimony meeting for our mini-missionaries this last week and it went really well. It was good to see the change in desire and appreciation for missionary work in these kids after just 2 weeks. They were trying to figure out why they were crying while telling us how much they wanted to serve missions now. Not because the missions are easy, but because helping people learn about salvation is necessary! It was so fun! After I sent my comp off to her house, I was all comp-less for the night at the mission home until my koon came from america, so I got to be in a trio with Sister Pace and Sister Clark from the original MTC group. That was such a blast! When you're re-kindled with people you knew from a long time ago and meet up after such crazy experiences, you see how much you've changed and how far we've all come since day 1 in the MTC. My new companion's name is Sister Snooks. She's basically rocking the khmer, jetlag, and riding a bike in the traffic here. We already get along so well and we love BYU so basically life is just good! She's a hard worker and never complains even when I took her to the psaa (market) she wasn't afraid of the half dissected pig on the table! Love. Her. We went to the ward activity this weekend and it was really good. We read what I think is called "Choosing Faith" which was a super good talk and watched Finding Faith in Christ. all the ladies were crying at the end. It was really good and spiritual. This ward is just so advanced, I love it! Piano class is also still going super well! One of the members said she's going to bring some investigators to class with her next week. Hope so! This week I "re-kindled" relationships quite a bit. At the mission home, meeting Sister Luke (she went home at the MTC but is here in Cambodia now) again, and with a past investigator. I don't remember if I ever wrote about Srey Nich when I was in my training, but I saw her again yesterday after being out of contact since January! She ran up to me when I walked into church yesterday and didn't let go of my hand until the end of 3 hours where over... anyway, she said "sister! I went to my aunt''s house (who is less-active) yesterday, and I told her how much I wanted to get baptized and then that reminded me that I wanted to see you. She suggested we come to church today so we could ask around and see if anyone knew where you ended up... and you are right here!" Wow. Just another one to add to the list of "Why am I in this specific area?" list. I know she could've learned with any other missionaries and gotten baptized and we probably never would've met ever again, and that would've been fine, but I think this was a tender mercy the Lord sent to me just to give me a little push. I learned a lot out of this experience. 1: The Lord really does have plans for all of us and will put us where we need to be when we need to be there. 2. Don't give up or give crappy first impressions. You never know when something will start up again! If I didn't love her then, she probably wouldn't have loved me enough to find me now! 3. People are prepared on the Lord's time. I think she wasn't super prepared to fully accept the gospel before. But I'm wiling to give it another try! I was super happy to see her again and we're trying to figure out arrangements so she can start learning again! Being with my brand new comp in her training takes me back to my training so much. I LOVED training to be honest, but now that I look back, I see how much change I've witnessed and what amazing miracles I've seen and I cannot be more grateful! Missions ARE AMAZING!!!!
Alright that's about all I've got today. Read Mormon 9 this week if you need some inspo. "DOUBT NOT, but be believing!" The Lord is in-charge of everything. When you realize that, everything goes WAY better. I promise.
I love you all! Til next week. Cheerio!
Love,
Sister Haddock
