What Happens When: "Workin' at the Car Wash yeahhhhhh" I WAS ON TV

HELLO HELLO HELLO

This week was pretty average except that we had this huge free moto/car wash and got really tan! This was the "make it or break it" activity to see if missionaries have enough power to hold further activities later! AND.... it was a SUCCESS. We washed 387 motos/cars with buckets and sponges and emergency fire hoses and even kept washing when a thunderstorm hit right in the middle of it! 250 people entered the church building and were taken on a church info tour and 90 potential investigators were received, so BOOM that was great! Hopefully we will see a bunch of baptisms and this will be the push we need to reach some goals this year!

ALSO I WAS ON TV what? yep. This guy that runs some Khmer TV channel heard about the party and interviewed me in khmer while I was holding a huge flashy sign in the road trying to get people to come to the church. I got to yell "Liang Moto at git thlai FREE FREE FREE" until my voice didn't work anymore. WORTH IT. But I've never been so tired in my life! That car wash and our efforts to get as many lessons in as possible before the car wash wore me out! :)

We also had a great english class spiritual thought with a 'real life experience Lehi's dream' on Wednesday. It was really great, there were a lot of contacts afterwards and we gave out quite a few Book of Momons after that! Because of the events this week we didn't have time to see everyone we wanted to, but we still got in a few great lessons especially with members. Some of the best:

whoopsssssss I hit send on accident

anyway, some of the best lessons this week included 2 experiences about faith:

Om Channa shared an modern day experience like the pioneer that found the pie in the road. Om is 70 years old and super fragile and she walks or rides a bike to church every week. She lives further than we do! Anyway, she was riding back from church on sunday with her daughter and they were worried because they didn't have any money, food, and it was sunday. They prayed that the lord would provide something for them, and on the way home, they saw a big, grilled fish in the middle of the road, fresh off the grill. They looked around, no one was there, so they picked it up, said a long prayer of thanks and had food for one more day.

Ming Nari is a great member who recently had a lot of health problems and had to get surgery. Apparently they just gave her numbing shots and cut her open while she was awake. She said when the numbing wore off it was really painful, but she prayed and her thoughts were directed to Jesus Christ as he died on the cross and suffered for our sins. She said "no matter how much pain I think I have, it will never compare to the pain Jesus had." She is recovering well and will soon be on her feet again. She is an amazing woman of faith in the Lord as well.

We saw one of our recently found investigators, Ming (the wife of the Elder's recent convert Tang Yi)

As soon as we walked into her metal roof house, it started down pouring harder and louder than I've seen in a while. Crazy because while we were on the road it was so hot and completely dry. The whole lesson was us trying to yell scriptures so she could hear us and trying to keep dry... maybe the most ineffective lesson, but regardless of the noise, the spirit was definitely there and even though she probably didn't understand anything we said, she came to church looking bright and happy!

I heard one of my favorite families in the ward are getting ready to go to the temple and I started crying because I'm so happy for them. THEN I heard that my favorite YSA couple in our ward is getting married in the temple soon too and I started crying again. Literal tears! I never thought the thought of going to the temple make me emotional hahaha! Missions change ya you know?

AND last but not least, if you remember Srey Nich, the girl I taught in my training and saw again when I moved back the the city 2 months ago, well, she called to tell me SHE IS GETTING BAPTIZED. after 11 months and a few sets of sisters, she has developed strong faith and a desire to follow Jesus Christ and I'm SO HAPPY for her. Lesson learned: DON'T GIVE UP. EVER. Because you never know when it's their time to accept the gospel! I am SO grateful that Heavenly Father brought me back to the city (even to her exact area!) to see Srey Nich get baptized. It's hard to feel like you're influential or helpful when you're in your training since the language is foreign and you can barely keep your eyes open in the lessons, but I know that the Lord will qualify who He calls and He works out the rest as long as we give Him all we have. I'm a witness of just a small part of what goes on in this marvelous work!

That's about it for this week, thanks for reading and writing me. I love hearing from your all!

Have a great Halloween!

Love,

Sister Haddock
